이집트에 전달된 민주노총 지도부의 연대 메시지:
파업 노동자 군법재판 회부를 즉각 중단하라

이집트 당국이 파업 노동자들을 군사재판에 회부한 것(관련기사)에 대해 미국과 영국, 그리스, 아일랜드 등 각국의 국제 노동운동 활동가들이 항의의 목소리를 내는 가운데, 한국 민주노총 최종진 위원장 직무대행과 이영주 사무총장도 국제 연대 메세지를 발표했다. 이들의 메세지는 노동자연대가 영어로 번역해, 이집트 현지 활동가들을 지원하는 국제단체 이집트연대에 16일 전달했다. 영어 번역본은 하단 박스기사에서 볼 수 있다.

우리는 이집트 당국이 ‘알렉산드리아 조선회사’ 노동자 26명을 군사재판에 회부했다는 소식에 분노를 금할 수 없다. 체불된 상여금 지급, 임금 인상, 비정규직 고용보장 등 해당 노동자들이 요구한 것은 지극히 정당한 것이고, 이를 위해 노동자들이 파업이나 시위를 벌이는 것은 국제적으로 공인된 권리다. 그럼에도 회사의 소유권이 몇 해 전에 군 산하 기구로 넘어갔다는 이유로 노동자들을 군사재판에 회부한 것은 탄압으로 저항을 꺾으려는 것으로밖에 볼 수가 없다.
오늘날처럼 세계경제가 위기에 빠져서 각국 민중의 고통이 커지는 지금, 노동자들이 파업과 시위로 반격에 나설 권리는 갈수록 중요해진다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 바로 그 때문에 사장들을 편들고 노동자들의 반격을 봉쇄하려는 각국 정부는 파업과 시위 권리를 옥죄고 있다. 한국에서 활동하는 우리도 지금 비슷한 폐해를 온몸으로 겪고 있다. 한국의 박근혜 정부는 노동자들의 임금·고용·노동조건 악화 강요와 민주주의 훼손에 맞서 민주노총이 진행한 민중총궐기를 이유로 민주노총 한상균 위원장을 체포했다. 정당한 투쟁을 벌인 이집트 노동자들이 겪는 탄압이 남의 일 같지 않은 까닭이다.
나아가, 아래로부터 운동으로 군사독재를 종식시키고 민주노총을 건설한 한국의 역사적 경험으로부터 우리는 제아무리 무자비한 정권이더라도 역사를 전진시키는 노동자·민중의 힘을 막을 수 없다는 것을 알고 있다. 그래서 민주노총은 2011년 초 독재자 무바라크를 끌어내린 혁명 속에서 이집트 노동자들이 독립노총 등 자주적 조직을 결성하는 것을 지지했고, 2013년 8월 군부의 민간인 대량학살을 규탄했고, 대규모 사형선고 철회와 언론·시위의 자유 보장, 모든 정치범 석방을 지속적으로 촉구해 왔다.
이집트 노동자들의 전진은 한국 노동자들의 전진을 고무하고, 그들이 겪는 탄압은 우리에게도 아픔으로 다가온다. 여기에 서명한 우리는 이집트 당국에게 노동자·민중이 다시금 탄압의 군홧발을 떨치고 일어설 것임을 엄숙히 경고하며 다음을 요구한다:
-이집트 당국은 알렉산드리아 노동자들의 군법재판 회부를 즉각 중단하고 모두 석방하라!
-이집트 당국은 노동자들이 자주적으로 조직을 결성하고 행동에 나설 권리를 온전히 보장하라!

Stop military trial for Alexandria Shipyard workers and release them immediately!
We are very raged to hear the news that 26 Alexandria Shipyard workers are facing military trials. Their demand for overdue bonuses, wage increases, permanent contracts for temporary workers and etc. are just and fair and it is globally acknowledged that workers have rights to stage protest and/or strike as the means to achieve their demands. However, Egyptian authorities are trying the workers by military court by exploiting the fact that the ownership of the company had been moved to an organization affiliated with the Armed Forces, and we cannot but interpret that the aim of such act is to suppress workers' just resistance with coercion and violence.
The rights for workers to stage protest and/or strike as the means of resistance are becoming increasingly valuable under the current circumstance where the people of all countries are suffering from the global economic crisis. However, faced with the global crisis, the governments across the world are taking sides with the bosses and want to block the workers' resistance. That is the reason why we are witnessing the rights to stage protest and/or strike being oppressed in many countries. We are experiencing very similar situation. South Korea's Park Geun-hye government have jailed Korean Confederation of Trade Unions
Moreover, we are well-aware of from our own history in which the workers have put to an end to military dictatorship and built KCTU that even the most brutal government cannot stop the workers and people pushing the wheel of the history forward. Under such reasoning KCTU have supported Egyptian workers' effort to self-organize including the Egyptian Federation of Independent Trade Unions
Just as the advance for Egyptian workers encourages the advance for Korea workers, we feel very painful for all the Egyptian workers' suffering. We, the undersigned, would like to deliver our grave warning to the Egyptian authorities that workers and people will rise against the repression and we demand the followings:
*Stop military trial for Alexandria Shipyard workers and release them immediately!
*Egypt authorities should guarantee all the rights for the workers to organize independently and to take actions.
